Dichotomoes are useful for education, communication and simplification. Unfortunately, simplicity is useful but untrue - whereas complexity is true, but useless.

    Quotes
"A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its
opponents and making them see the light, but rather because
its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up
that is familiar with the idea from the beginning."

    Quotes
A Roman divorced from his wife, being highly blamed by his friends, who demanded, "Was she not chaste? Was she not fair? Was she not fruitful?" holding out his shoe, asked them whether it was not new and well made. "Yet," added he, "none of you can tell where it pinches me."

    Conventional Deadlift: 320x5

    Strict Press: 125x5/135x3.

When I first started overhead pressing (seated, behind the neck), I thought about a plate a side press as a far away strength feat. I didn't press until this summer and now I got to this small milestone. Next stop - 135x5/145x3. And a far away goal - bodyweight press.

    Running
I ran 2 miles in 12:40 today. This is the first time running so much since October. Satisfied with my time; I'd like to get it down to 12 minutes though.

The most creative b-boy showcase performance
I just watched B-Boy Planet - great movie. Showcase performance of Japanese crew Ichigeki from Battle of the Year 2005 is the most creative and original crew showcase I've seen:

The opening sequence (turn-tables) is sick. Enjoy!

I hit 190x5 on the maximal effort bench work-out (first one in over 6 month). 200x5 = 225x1, so 225 is within reach.

I went car pushing twice this week. Great work-out.

    To my dear female friends:
Two great posts on weight-training for women:

From Gubernatrix: Getting into weight training: a female-friendly guide

From strength coach Christian Thibaudeau: How women should train

via Stumptuous - a great resource on fitness, nutrition for women by a (weak-turned-strong) woman.

    Fitness in 75kg weight-class (165lb)
I will soon lift an estimated 840lb raw total (squat+deadlift+bench). This would translate to Class IV in USAPL (and AAPF) and Class III in 100% Raw power-lifting federations.

But since singles are taxing, require a couple of spotters, are more likely to lead to injury than reps and are not necessary outside of competition, I'll shoot for 755 (90% of 1RM) total in triples: 245/325/185 breakdown. Deadlift is there, squat is 20 away and bench is probably there. I might pick a day to do all three lifts together, or I might "cheat" and do them on separate days.

Next bench-mark would be 810 in triples (900 singles) which is Class III in AAPF with 265/340/205 breakdown.

And probably my life-long goal would be 875 in triples (970 singles) - Class III in USAPL and Class IV in NASA. Approximate breakdown would probably be close to 295/355/225 in triples and I doubt I'd want to stress my body more than that. But that's pretty far away. Especially squat.

    Triples:

    245/325/185 = 755
    265/340/205 = 810
    295/355/225 = 875

    Happy New Year!
    My dear friends,

I wish you all in the end of 2008 to look back at the year and feel that you have grown.

It's been a good year for me and I'm looking forward to more!

"Mirrors are only the methadone of bodybuilding. You need a real audience. There's that joke: How many bodybuilders does it take to screw in a light bulb? Three -- one to screw in the bulb and two to say, "Really, dude, you look massive!" Yeah, that joke. It's not really a joke." Chuck Palahniuk

Possibly going there for 2days/1night. Where do I go? Where is the warmest water? What is there to do?

    Events this weekend?
Monday is off. Does anyone know of any big, long, loud gatherings (festivals, etc) happening within 7-8 hour drive from Boston? Montreal? I need to get away from here for a bit, but my imagination at its low point these days...
